Director of Diversity and Inclusion
Initiated in 2019, Dr. Tehia Starker Glass became the inaugural Director of Diversity and Inclusion for the Cato College of Education. A tenured Associate Professor of Educational Psychology and Elementary Education, Dr. Glass focuses her research, teaching, and service on including culturally responsive teaching and anti-racism in K-12 and higher education classrooms. She co-created and is the program director of the Anti-Racism Graduate Certificate Program. In her role as DDI, she facilitates Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice initiatives in the college.
Cato College of Education Diversity Committee
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Cato College of Education Diversity Committee is an action-oriented group dedicated to fostering equity, diversity and social justice for COED faculty, staff, students and the broader Charlotte community. The Diversity Committee aims to disrupt educational inequity through development of an environment of acceptance and respect that values the expression of individual talents and differences, advocation of equitable treatment of all persons, and promotion of education, practice and policy that contributes to a healthy and inclusive workplace, community, and society.
