Telra Institute breaks ground on new campus with Cato faculty on Board

Charter school Telra Institute, opened in 2022, will welcome high schoolers for the first time this fall, at a new location right next door to Central Piedmont Community College’s Levine Campus. This will allow students to have what Telra is calling a “tightly integrated dual enrollment experience.” Their aim is that all students completing high school there will graduate with an Associate’s degree.

Telra Institute is a school for advanced learners and has benefited from guidance and leadership by UNC Charlotte faculty and alumni. The first four ceremonial groundbreakers pictured here are, from left to right:

  • Michael Matthews, Telra Board Chair and program director of the Graduate Certificate in Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
  • Erin FitzPatrick, Telra Board Vice Chair and Special Education and Child Development faculty in Cato College of Education
  • Elisha Rearick, K-3 Principal at Telra and M.Ed. alumna (Special Education, AIG)
  • Karly Lucas, EC and Instructional Coordinator at Telra and M.Ed. alumna (Special Education, AIG)
