Kirsten Abel
Kirsten Abel is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education. A certified Reading and Curriculum Specialist, she utlilizes her extensive background as a K–5 classroom teacher, mentor, and literacy coach to instruct courses in assessment, literacy, and coaching. Abel is dedicated to empowering the next generation of educators by bridging theory and practice through action research. Her work focuses on guiding teacher candidates to design differentiated instructional strategies and assessment techniques that prioritize equitable outcomes for every learner.
As a faculty member at UNC Charlotte, Abel actively seeks opportunities to support local teachers and students. Collaborating with teachers on data analysis and instructional strategies enhances her ability to prepare teacher candidates for their student teaching placements and successful future careers.
