Caroline Freeman

Director of Communications
Dean's Office | University Communications

Caroline Freeman is the Director of Communications for Cato College of Education, acting as air traffic controller, storyteller, and information wrangler for all things teacher preparation, educational leadership, and counselor education at UNC Charlotte.

Freeman has worn many hats over her career, including 10+ years in the service and hospitality industries while moonlighting as a sports journalist on the press bench of the University of Florida gymnastics team for multiple outlets. She’s started three of her own businesses, was selected to be part of an international brand’s inaugural creator partnership program, and spent two years in the corporate sector as a content marketing specialist for a Forbes 100 Fastest Growing Company. She brought her broad variety of life experience to the world of higher education in 2024, where she acts as liaison between the college and University Communications.

Her focus at Charlotte has been making the technical accessible and meeting audiences where they already spend time online, making it easier for students, faculty and staff, families, alumni, community partners and peer institutions to absorb the message of excellence in Cato College with fewer barriers.

In her short time as a Niner, she’s grown fond of her place on campus overlooking Cauble Quad. Being at the heart of campus every day and watching students gather and celebrate together reminds her, both on good days and hard ones, that she chose this work in support of them.
