
Dr. Rebecca Shore is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. She teaches in the Master of School Administration program, the Aspiring High School Principal program and the Doctorate in Educational Leadership program. She is coordinator of the Curriculum & Supervision strand of the Ed.D. Prior to coming to UNCC, Dr. Shore worked in schools for 28 years in California, Louisiana, and North Carolina; 13 years of teaching and 15 years in administration. She taught as an adjunct professor while working in schools for 12 years at Wake Forest University, UNC Greensboro, and the University of California at Irvine. Dr. Shore served as principal of Los Alamitos High School, a three-time California Distinguished School and three-time National Blue Ribbon School in southern California, and in a variety of administrative roles in the Huntington Beach Union High School District. Through most of her school teaching experience, she was a high school choral director. Her doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Policy is from the University of Southern California and her dissertation title was New Professional Opportunities for Teachers in the California Charter Schools.
Dr. Shore is the author of five books and the producer of two educational CD series. Her latest book, Developing Young Minds from Conception to Kindergarten was awarded the top ranking of “Essential” by the Association of Research Colleges & Universities in 2016. She was named the Higher Education Arts Educator of the Year for 2015-2016 by the North Carolina Art Educators Association. Her research interests include leadership in early childhood education, charter school leadership, arts in education, and incorporating the science of learning into educational environments.
