Forgivable Loans for Educators
Forgivable loans differ from scholarships in that they require repayment through service in schools, often in specific in-demand teaching areas or locations. The following are forgivable loans programs available to UNC Charlotte education students:
- North Carolina Teaching Fellows – $8,250/year with an accompanying service commitment in NC schools
- North Carolina Principal Fellows – $30,000/year with an accompanying service commitment in NC schools
- Forgivable Education Loans for Service – $3,000 for freshman and sophomore years, $7,000 for junior and senior years with an accompanying service commitment in NC schools; also available for graduate programs
- TEACH Grant – $4,000/year with an accompanying service commitment in schools serving low-income students
External Scholarships
Scholarship search engines, general scholarship information, and tips for evaluating external scholarships are available through the University Scholarship Office (USO). Students should use the USO’s resources as a starting point. The following are examples of external scholarships for educators:
